The Story of PocketShrew

Once upon a time (i.e. 7 years ago), two young lassies were residing in a village where speaking was prohibited (i.e. Junior high school). The two young lassies had many things to share with one another, and so one lass devised a system by which the two could communicate without being discovered by the kings and queens (i.e. teachers and administrators) or, worse, by the villagers who would cast bad spells with their newly found knowledge (i.e. their junior high peers would gossip). The lassies decided to communicate in letters using only fantastical names. (In other words, the two junior high girls passed notes addressed with fake names.) The first lass was to be called Pocket Shrew and the second lass was to be called Starflower. The lassies communicated by note for some time in this village, until they eventually traveled to a new village (i.e. high school and then college) where they no longer needed such secrecy.

Then, some years later, the two lassies and a third lass, whom they met during their travels, decided to create a secret publication to inform all the world of their extraordinary happenings and brilliant revelations. Suddenly, their former fantastical names were in demand again! The publication would be called PocketShrew, and the lassies would call themselves StarFlower, StraightBacon, and YettiFedora.

(If you didn't get all that, the name of this blog and these display names were created and/or crafted after names that were created by my bestie and and I when we were still in middle school 7 years ago. )
